Prescriptions

Ordering your repeat medication

It will take at least two full working days before your prescription is available for collection or before it will be sent to your nominated pharmacist if you use the electronic prescribing service (EPS).

  • We cannot issue emergency or same day prescriptions for patients. Should you run out, your pharmacist may give you a small supply until your prescription is ready.
  • We are unable to accept requests for repeat prescriptions by telephone. They must be made in writing.
  • Please check your prescription on collection. The practice is not able to accept returns or offer refunds.
  • Prescriptions can only be collected by persons aged over 16. For those under 16, a parent or guardian may collect it on their behalf.

Over the counter medicines

In previous years, Norfolk and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group has spent around £1 million on medicines that were readily available over the counter from pharmacists and even supermarkets.

They were for coughs and colds, allergies, gastrointestinal problems, haemorrhoids, skin conditions, vaginal thrush, cold sores, teething and mouth ulcers, head lice and threadworms. Also included were basic painkillers like paracetamol and ibuprofen.

As a consequence, the CCG has decided that in future GPs should not routinely prescribe these medicines. Any patients with a long term/chronic illness may ask for special consideration which on rare occasions may be given.
