Our On-Line Service  


In association with our clinical software provider we are able to offer you, our patient, the facility to:


  • manage your appointments on-line
  • manage your medication on-line
  • view your patient record on-line
  • view your test results on-line
  • view your childhood vaccinations on-line
  • view your summary patient record 

SystmOnline helps by letting you manage your appointments and repeat medication over the Internet. The service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. We hope that this will help you fit your healthcare routine into your lifestyle.

On-Line Appointments   


Use this facility to:


  • book appointments for a telephone triage appointment
  • check the time of an appointment
  • cancel an appointment
  • view dates of up to five previous appointments

On-Line Prescriptions   


Use this facility to:

  • view a list of your current medication
  • order your repeat prescription

On-Line Patient records 


Our practice offers patients the facility to view areas of their medical record online. Patients are able to access a summary of information relating to medications, allergies and adverse reactions.  As well as viewing this information, there is a facility to download and print it. If you require online access to your record, you need to speak with the practice Reception who will facilitate this.


Is the service secure?  


The SystmOnline service has been fully developed, tested and accredited by a government body – NHS Connecting for Health.  


All personal information used by SystmOnline is secure and protected.  It is available to staff at our Surgery who have the appropriate security controls, ie those managing appointments and repeat prescribing.    


How do I start?   


Before you can use the on-line service you must visit the practice in person to obtain a login from our Receptionist.  


Please Note:- you will need to bring photo identification (driving licence or passport) to allow us to perform the necessary checks required before access to the online services can be granted.  


Our Receptionist will give you a username and a temporary password .  You can change the password whenever you login. We will not have access to your password once you have changed it. Should you forget your password you will need to visit the practice bringing the necessary identification with you so that a new temporary password can be issued.

At the bottom of the login section there is a useful ‘Help’ facility if you have a problem.      


Useful points to note


  • To use the on-line service you must first obtain a login from Reception.  
  • Please allow 12 hours for your login to be activated
  • You can only order repeat medication seven days or less prior to needing it.
  • Only certain types of appointments are available to be booked on-line.

If you have any problems with the system please try the on-line help first but, if the difficulty continues, please ask at Reception.  


There is now an app available for iPhone and Android Phones, search 'SystmOnline' in the app store.


How online appointments work  


Appointments you can book  


You will be able to book a “telephone triage” slot in the same way as when you call the reception appointment line except that you will be able to write your own message to a GP via Systmone Online rather than picking up the phone.


Your telephone triage slot will be assessed by the doctor and will result in advice being relayed to you, a telephone call from the duty doctor, or an appointment made with a Doctor or Nurse.  


Allocation of urgent appointments with either a doctor or nurse, is entirely at the duty doctor's discretion and will be based on their assessment of your current condition and need. These appointments are usually 10 minutes long and are therefore designed to deal with the reason you called triage and not for secondary problems or any long term/chronic conditions; these will require a routine appointment.  


We cannot predict which on-call duty doctor will return your call as they organise their own workload. Urgent medical conditions will always take precedence over other matters and therefore the timescale in handling your enquiry will reflect the priority of the problem.  


If you are calling on behalf of someone else (over 16yrs) we will need to have their consent to discuss any matters with you. Patients should therefore,where possible, ring the practice themselves.  


Appointment slots


The slots are only for patients that are unwell and would like to be seen within 48 hours. You will still need to call reception for prescription and other administrative queries.    


Information required on bookings  


You need to give a brief description of your symptoms and a contact telephone number for a doctor to contact you on as a reason for booking the appointment (mobile numbers are accepted).  


Booking a “telephone triage” appointment online


You should only book the very next available appointment. You can ignore the time that appears next to the appointment - this is for the doctors’ reference and is not the time of your appointment.


If you book a telephone triage slot for anything other than the very next available appointment, you may not receive a call back.   


What happens next    


Your booking will appear on our screens for the date you requested and you will receive a call back from the on-call doctor that day. If you have not been called back on the day you requested, please call the surgery and a receptionist will help.
